QUENTIN CRISP (WAIF. RET.)

In 2004, Phillip Ward created and offered a shadowbox, titled QUENTIN CRISP (Waif. Ret.), for the Rocking Horse Cafe Mexicano's El Día de los Muertos silent charity auction. It was won by Aron and Sophie Miodownik. The event was a fundraiser for God's Love We Deliver and P.S. 11.

The box contains three personal items once belonging to Mr. Crisp: a gray/red/gold/black scarf; a gold-toned brooch, heart-shaped topped with a crown, studded with red and white crystal gems; and a blue business card—Mr. Crisp's first New York City calling card.

The altar also contains a small silver-toned frame with a laser-printed photograph of Mr. Crisp taken by Phillip Ward. The altar's lavender interior paint was created by blending Mr. Crisp's actual hair dye from Manic Panic with shocking white latex paint.
